High rise
this short film showing a youngish mother in her council flat with her baby, we see the baby mover over towards an open window. the mother sees the baby crawling over towards the open window. the mum then walks out of the room. we get the sense that the mum is having a horrible time and really struggling with life and being a mother. we get the impression that she wants the baby to fall out of this high story council block. we then hear some screams and we can only presume its the baby, the mum then rushes in and sees the baby on the floor, she looks out the window and sees a doll has fallen out. Theres no scripts just lots of key sound effects witch really helps with the short film. the images and sound effect tell its own unique story. With the music, the sound effects and the quite hard to watch visual images this short film comes across as a very painful, difficult and stressful. the writer of this must have tried to get the point across of the hard lifestyle that comes with young pregnancies and the huge amount of responsibilities layed upon someone. i personally found this film quite hard to watch which makes me believe its done exactly what it intended to do. the film is shot very well with some great angles being used. and the link between the music and the sound effects work perfectly together to create the tension needed.

Gas Man- by lynne Ramsey
this short film is about a Scottish family, mum dad and a son and daughter. its set in the 90's and shows the dad taking his children to a christmas party. before he goes to the party he meets up with some other women with 2 other children. although nothing is said u get the impression that these other children are his from another marriage which his family dont know about. its kept quite which i presume is meant for the audience to make there own mind up about the other children. the short film is a good concept with and interesting story which goes into a lot of visual detail about how the father and children get pn with each other. its a good film and beautifully shot. the attention the detail is perfect. you get drawn into the story which makes you want to no everything about this family and where these other children have come from and how they relate to it all. although you never find out.

Love Me or Leave Me Alone
This is one of my favourite short films i've watched in a while. i loved the story and the way it was shot. the story is about a boy and a girl both aged around 16-17. who are going out with each other but a argument occurs which results in the girl walking away from the boy, he acts as if he dosent care then after sitting down realises what hes lost. he then goes on to try and find her. the film is basically him trying to find her so he can try and make it up to her. its quite an emotional film. the shots used though i believe are perfect. every shot has its own meaning which links in with the story perfectly. I perticuly liked the really dark shots used. the black screen with the occasional light passing over really gives you a suspense that something is going to happen although it never really does.
